The Real Cause of the American Revolution

In his new comic anthology Mere Anarchy, Woody Allen tells the story of the fiction writer Flanders Mealworm, who among other things has published an interesting novel about the origins of the American Revolution:

"My book, in which a man travels back in time and hides King George's wig, thus hastening the Stamp Act, obviously ruffled establishment feathers with its bite."

Obviously.

Allen's story, "Mr. Biggs and the Boychick," can be read in its entirety here. It's actually pretty amusing - I particularly liked Allen's description of alleged Hollywood mogul E. Coli Biggs ("a fubsy pudding of a character") and his inexpensive hairpiece.
